Salvation Army Thrift Store Senior Discount
Senior Discount: 50% off

Salvation Army Thrift Store Senior Discount

Age Requirement: 55 years old

Quick answer: Many Salvation Army Family Stores have a senior discount day for shoppers 55 and older. The amount runs from about 20% to 50% off, and Wednesday is the most common day, but every region sets its own rules. Call your store or check its page before you go.

What does the senior discount look like?

Here are a few real examples from Salvation Army stores:

  • Southeast Michigan: 25% off regular-priced items every Wednesday for seniors 55 and up with ID (new items, jewelry and collectibles excluded).
  • Fort Wayne, Indiana: 50% off everything for seniors, not counting orange-tag items and mattresses.
  • Gulfport, Mississippi: 20% off your total on Fridays for 55 and up.

So the 50% on our old page is real in some places, but don’t count on it everywhere.

How to get it

  1. Look up your nearest Salvation Army Family Store and call, or check its local page or Facebook.
  2. Ask which day is senior day and what’s excluded.
  3. Bring a photo ID showing your age.

Our tip: ask about the weekly color tag sale too. On some days, one tag color is marked way down for everyone, and at some stores you can’t stack it with the senior discount.
