Publix Senior Discount
Quick answer: Publix doesn’t have a company-wide senior discount. Some Publix stores in Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee still give shoppers 60 and older 5% off on Wednesdays. Florida stores don’t, so call your store before you plan a Wednesday trip.
Is there a Publix senior discount on Wednesday?
At some stores, yes. The 5% Wednesday discount isn’t advertised by Publix and isn’t on its website. It’s a local program that certain stores kept going, mostly in states Publix entered by buying other grocery chains. Fewer stores seem to offer it each year.
If your store does it, the deal is simple: you’re 60 or older, you shop on a Wednesday, and you get 5% off at the register.
How to find out if your Publix gives it
- Call your store and ask the customer service desk: “Do you still do the 5% senior discount on Wednesdays?”
- If they say yes, ask what’s left out. Stores that offer it often skip alcohol, tobacco, gift cards and pharmacy items.
- On Wednesday, tell the cashier before they start ringing you up, and have an ID handy.
Ways to save at any Publix
- BOGO deals. Publix’s buy one, get one free sales are often worth more than 5% off.
- Digital coupons. Clip them in the Publix app or on publix.com. They stack with the weekly ad.
- Wednesday ad overlap. In many areas the new weekly ad starts Wednesday or Thursday, so on Wednesday you can sometimes catch both weeks’ sales.
