Gristedes Senior Discount
Quick answer: Yes. Gristedes gives senior citizens an extra 10% off their purchase every Tuesday. Gristedes doesn’t publish an exact age, so ask at the register (you’ll see 60 and 65 both mentioned). Alcohol and tobacco generally don’t count.
How the Gristedes senior Tuesday works
Gristedes has been a New York supermarket since 1888, with stores in Manhattan and nearby areas. It promotes its senior savings on its weekly specials and social media: 10% off every Tuesday. The discount covers most of what you buy. Alcohol and tobacco are usually left out, and Gristedes says exclusions can apply, so ask the cashier if you’re not sure about an item.
What age do you need to be?
Gristedes doesn’t publish one. Our older listing said 60, and some news sites say 65. If you’re between 60 and 64, just ask at the register or customer service. Carry an ID either way.
Finding a Gristedes near you
Use the store locator on gristedes.com to find the closest location and its hours. Most stores are in Manhattan, and you can also order online for pickup or delivery. Ask your store whether the Tuesday discount applies to online orders, since it’s usually an in-store deal.
Tips for senior Tuesday
- Do your big weekly shop on Tuesday so the 10% counts on more.
- Check the weekly ad first. Sale prices plus 10% off can add up.
- Go in the morning, when stores tend to be quieter.
