Chapel Hill Mall's official slogan is "The Friendliest Mall of All."

About The Mall

Chapel Hill Mall was built in the mid-1960s. The south end of the mall, including Sears, opened first, followed by the north end. It took almost two years to build the entire mall. It was the first mall in the nation to operate an integrated power plant that provided electricity, heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The mall's first and only addition was the Carousel Food Court, which opened in October 1994. Soon after, Chapel Hill was totally renovated with completion in 1995.

The mall is built on 175 acres that includes land that was once the meeting place for an Indian tribal council. The merchants of Chapel Hill Mall share more than a million square feet of space and shoppers will find almost 5,000 parking places, including 56 spaces for handicapped drivers.

At Chapel Hill Mall, we have the only full-sized indoor Carousel in Akron. This unique Carousel which was made in Mansfield, Ohio, features painted scenes of prominent landmarks in Summit County history. Its authentic wood-carved animals can seat up to 38 people at once.
