The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death

This is the week that movies go to die. Meaning that the only movies that open are the dregs. And this year is no exception.

The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death

Everything is classier with a British accent. And that includes horror movies! Especially when it’s set in the English countryside and is shot to look just a tad vintage and quaint. (OK, the filmmakers wish). Don’t let all that fool you—what you’ve got here is a typical supernatural thriller with a haunted house. Two caretakers have to move the orphans they care for to a new location and pick this seemingly beautiful place in the countryside only to realize that some lady (Angel of Death) is haunting the place and stealing all the kids. Boo!

Perfect For: You’d like it if Paranormal Activity were a bit classier.

What the Critics Say: I told you, making it British doesn’t always make it better. Writes Time Out: “Predictable shock tactics, drippy wartime romance and scenes in which the characters leaf tremulously through Victorian photo albums and spout exposition.”

Our Take: There are like eleventy billion Oscar contenders in theaters right now. Nope!
